Overview
The 2004 Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act made provision for the preparation of Supplementary Planning Documents (SPDs) to provide greater detail on specific policies within individual Development Plan Documents (DPDs)/ the Local Plan. The process for preparing statutory SPDs is set out in Part 4 of the Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2012 (Statutory Instrument 2012 No. 767), as amended.
Residential Annexes Supplementary Planning Document
The Residential Annexes SPD will supplement the Householder Extensions SPD, and policies 2 and 8 of the North Northamptonshire Joint Core Strategy, by providing local guidance and direction regarding the development of residential annexes (also known as “Granny Annexes”).
The Residential Annexes SPD was approved for consultation by the Planning Policy Committee on 8 February 2021. The consultation took place over 4-weeks and closed on Monday 22nd March 2021.
The amended Residential Annexes SPD, reflecting consultation responses received, was then presented to the new North Northamptonshire Executive for adoption.
A summary of responses to the Statement of Consultation can be found here.
