A45 Nene Valley landscaping scheme

Published Tuesday, 02 January 2018

We have received the below letter from Highways England regarding planned roadworks on the A45 between Rushden Lakes and the Raunds roundabout (wording shown as sent):

I am writing to let you know that we will be carrying out landscape improvement work along the A45 between Rushdan Lakes and the 8663 Raunds Roundabout. The work will involve thinning of existing woodland trees and shrubs, with bramble and weed control, and new tree, shrub and grassland planting, with installation of bat and bird boxes.

The scheme will start on 15 January for approximately 9 weeks. To carry this out safely work will be carried out in phases, using a mixture of overnight lane closures with a 50mph temporary speed limit, and a full road closure, from 8pm to 6am Monday to Friday. Some work will be undertaken off network during the daytime with access from laybys which will be closed for the duration of the work. The provisional dates for these phases are as follows:

Rushdan to Chowns Mill Roundabout:

  • Northbound lane 1 closure and 50mph temp speed limit (15/01/18 to 25/01/18)
  • Southbound lane 1 closure and 50mph temp speed limit (25/01/18 to 31/01/18)

Chowns Mill to Stanwick roundabout:

  • Northbound lane 1 closure and 50mph temp speed limit (31/01/18 to 07/02/18}
  • Station Road closure (05/02/18 to 09/02/18)

Stanwick Roundabout to Raunds Roundabout:

  • Full closure (07/02/18 to 14/02/18)
  • Layby closure for off network work (07/02/18 to 12/03/18)

During the full closures, we will put in place fully signed diversion routes using the A14 and A6 (map1 map 2), whilst maintaining access to Stanwick via the A45. Outside of working hours the A45 will be open as normal.

I apologise for any disruption this may cause you. Please note that all planned roadworks are subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. We will do our very best to complete the work as quickly as possible, keeping disturbances and noise to a minimum.
