Business funding event a great success!

Published Wednesday, 18 October 2017

Businesses benefitted from a one to one workshop with a funding expert this autumn, thanks to East Northamptonshire Council (ENC).

ENC organised this free event to give businesses the opportunity to find out what help and support is available in the district and beyond.

Each business had the chance to sit down with a funder to talk through their growth plans and draft a stage one application to apply for either the LEADER Fund or the EAFRD Growth Programme.

Most of the 15 who attended were inspired to put in a grant application and appreciated the help.

“These events are really useful in promoting contact between those who seek financial and other assistance with those who have the necessary finance to enable things to happen,” said one visitor.

Representatives from LEADER, SEMLEP and the Northamptonshire Growth Hub were on hand as well as ENC’s Head of Economic and Commercial Development, Greg Macdonald, and External Funding Manager, Su Davies.

Su Davies, said: “‘We were really pleased to be able to put local businesses in touch with funders. The money won’t last forever, so do contact me if you have a business growth project which needs funding. If we get enough interest, I’ll happily ask the funders to come back for another day of one to one advice.”

If you missed the day, don’t be disheartened. There’s still plenty of money in the funding pot!

  • Ready2Grow gives start-ups and SMEs advice, training and access to small grants.
  • Innovate Northamptonshire offers grants and vouchers to encourage research and expert collaboration to launch new products, processes or services.
  • LEADER offers grants from £5,000 to £170,000 to farmers, SMEs, tourism projects, rural services, cultural and heritage activities and forestry projects.
  • Growth Programme offers grants from £35,000 to £170,000 to food processing projects, SMEs and tourism projects.

If you want to expand your business and would like a grant to help you do so (it’s not a loan, so you don’t have to pay it back), then get in touch. Contact Su on 01832 742191 or by email and she’ll put you in touch with the best funder for you.
