Community Groups can potentially bid for Hargrave Pub.
In 2013, East Northamptonshire Council received a nomination from Hargrave Parish Council to list the Old Nag’s Head Public House, Hargrave, as an Asset of Community Value under the Localism Act 2011 (the Act).
We agreed that the building met the definition given in the Act and listed the pub on our website. In listing the property as an Asset of Community Value, this gives local community groups more time to raise finance and prepare to bid for it if they wish to do so if the asset comes up for sale.
The property has been on the market for 18 months under a moratorium defined by the Act. The moratorium comes to an end on 24 October 2016. The owner has confirmed that it is his intention to continue to sell the pub. A new six week interim moratorium period now begins which allows any local community interest group to make a written request to be treated as a potential bidder for the property.
Groups that are eligible to submit an expression of interest are:
- A legally constituted organisation such as a charity
- A company limited by guarantee that does not distribute profits amongst its members
- An Industrial and Provident Society
- A Community Interest Company
- A Parish Council
If your community group is eligible and wishes to be considered as a potential bidder, you must notify East Northamptonshire Council by 5pm on Tuesday, 6 December 2016. You can make a submission in writing by email or by writing to The Corporate Support Team, East Northamptonshire Council, Cedar Drive, Thrapston, NN14 4LZ.
