This week East Northamptonshire Council welcomed a new Chairman for the next Civic Year.
On 18 May Cllr Rupert Reichhold, a district councillor for Oundle, took over from outgoing chairman, Cllr Marika Hillson, at the Annual Meeting of the Council for 2016/17.
Cllr Reichhold has lived in Oundle since 1998 and has been a district councillor for 17 years. For 12 years he also served as a Northamptonshire County Councillor.
He is looking forward to representing the district and the work of the council at many events over the next 12 months. His consort is Nicolette Reichhold, his wife.
District councillor for Rushden Pemberton Ward, Cllr Colin Wright, was named as Vice-Chairman for this year.
Cllr Reichhold said: “I would like to thank my colleagues for electing me as Chairman for the forthcoming year, I promise to do my best for our district. I pay tribute to Cllr Hillson for her outstanding work as our Chairman and I am looking forward to working with our new Vice Chairman, Cllr Wright.”
Events already planned for the year include a civic church service in Oundle, a fish and chip supper and a civic dinner to raise money for the Chairman’s charities - The National Autistic Society, The Royal Anglian Regiment Benevolent Charity and The Gurkha Welfare Trust.
