On Saturday 25 July East Northamptonshire Council’s fleet of waste trucks was destroyed in a fire at the Kier depot in Chelveston.
Northants Police believe this was a result of 'accidental ignition.' The fire ruined six vehicles, owned by Kier Environmental Services.
Kier have organised replacement vehicles to collect residents’ refuse, recycling and food waste, and it is business as usual for the collections crew.
Residents are being asked to put out their bins as normal at 7am on collection day.
Refuse/recycling and food waste will be collected separately. This means that collections of food waste will be at a different time to (but on the same day as) the wheeled bins. Please do not report a missed bin until after 3pm on your collection day.
Steven North, Leader of East Northamptonshire Council, said: "It was very disappointing to hear about this weekend’s fire, but we’re trying our best to ensure that the collection service continues. The waste team appreciate your understanding and confirm that any minor changes to the service will be temporary."
Please visit our Recycling, rubbish and waste page or the ‘Reduce Reuse Recycle with East Northamptonshire Council’ Facebook page for any updates on the service or call 01832 742026 for more information.
