Councillor Steven North has been re-elected as Leader of East Northamptonshire Council at the annual meeting on Wednesday 27 May.
He is also leader of the ruling Conservative group and a member for Rushden Sartoris ward.
Cllr Glenn Harwood MBE was also re-elected as deputy leader and will support Cllr North in his role.
Councillor North said:
"East Northamptonshire is a great district and I am delighted to once again have the opportunity to lead councillors, officers and our partners in providing the best service for our communities.
"Our commitment to regeneration and economic development remains steadfast and we all look forward to seeing Rushden Lakes and Wharf Park develop into sites that ensure continued prosperity for the district.
"We will prioritise more mixed use development, to encourage thriving towns and villages across East Northamptonshire. This will include a new village at Deenethorpe which will deliver high quality housing on a disused airfield.
"This term will also see the completion of the Four Towns Plan, the start of a review of the RNOT plan and an increase in the number of Neighbourhood Plans being developed across the district.
"I'm confident that together we can ensure stability for the council and a bright future for the district."
The recent election saw 37 Conservatives, one Labour and two Independent councillors form East Northamptonshire Council.
