Are you a local community group in need of money for a project which will help people in your area?
Perhaps you’re setting up a new club, improving a town/village feature or upgrading facilities at your community centre or village hall? Well look no further!
Despite the economic climate, funds are still available from a variety of sources for groups requiring £50, £500, £5,000 or even £50,000+.
East Northamptonshire Council is holding a free ‘Meet the Funders’ event, open to all, where community groups can speak directly to funding groups and find out what support is available. This takes place at the council offices on Cedar Drive in Thrapston on Thursday, 5 March 2015, from noon to 3.30pm.
Su Davies, External Funding Manager at East Northamptonshire Council, will be present on the day to guide visitors to funders who can help their projects. Su says:
"This event will give community groups the chance to speak directly to funders, outline their projects and find out immediately whether they’d be eligible for funding support. The funders featured have simple application procedures and your grants are often assessed within two to three months. If you’re a not-for-profit body with a constitution and a bank account, you have a good chance of finding a funder who could help you."
Funders attending the event this year include:
- East Northamptonshire Council grants
- Big (Community) Lottery
- Heritage Lottery
- Comic Relief
- BBC Children in Need
- Northamptonshire Community Foundation
- Central England Co-op Community Fund
- Spire Homes Community Fund
- Mick George Community Fund
- The Charity Bank
- Northamptonshire ACRE
- Volunteer Impact Northamptonshire and Nene Valley Community Action
Leaflets and information on a range of other funders will also be available.
In addition, if your group is based in East Northamptonshire, when you come to the funding fair you can book a follow on visit from Su, who will arrange to meet with your group to discuss your funding needs and outline a fundraising strategy.
