Details of initial consultation on parish arrangements
Residents are being asked for their views on parish arrangements as part of a review.
Following the completion of the review of electoral divisions for Northamptonshire County Council, the parish review has begun and will run for 12 months.
It is good practice to review parish arrangements every 10-15 years; the last review took place in 1998 and its proposals came into effect in 2000.
In the first stage of the review, comments and proposals are being invited from any individuals or organisations with a view on whether any of the current parish boundaries or parish council arrangements in East Northamptonshire should be changed. Comments must be received by Sunday, 4 August 2013.
A working group will look at the comments received and come up with draft proposals which will be published on 28 October. There will then be a further period of 14 weeks for people to comment on the specific proposals before final recommendations are made to council in April 2014. Any changes to parish boundaries would come into force for the parish council elections in May 2015.
Residents are asked to submit their thoughts on the review:
- by email at firstname.lastname@example.org
- by telephone at 01832 742099
- by writing to Review of Parish Arrangements, East Northamptonshire Council, Cedar Drive, Thrapston, NN14 4LZ or by handing a letter in to our customer service centres in Thrapston, Oundle and Rushden.
More information about the review can be found on our parish review page. The Terms of Reference give more detail about how we will carry out the review and the kind of things we will take into account when making any recommendations.
