Last week, East Northamptonshire Council (ENC) welcomed a new Chairman for the next Civic Year.

On 15 May, Cllr Dudley Hughes, a district councillor for Woodford, took over from outgoing chairman, Cllr Wendy Brackenbury, at the Annual Meeting of the council for 2019/20. Cllr Hughes has served on the council for many years and was previously elected Chairman for the Council for 2008/09.

His consort is his wife, Cllr Sylvia Hughes.

Cllr Hughes said “I am honoured to represent the district once again at events over the coming year.

“My consort and I look forward to getting out and about to meet people across East Northamptonshire and also represent the district further afield."

“There are some beautiful towns and lovely communities in our district and it will be a pleasure to visit them whilst meeting a wide range of people and projects.”

Cllr Hughes will be organising a variety of events over the next year to raise funds for his chosen charity Service Six, a local organisation that specialises in providing support to children, young adults and their families.

District councillor for Stanwick Ward, Cllr Helen Howell was re-elected as Vice-Chairman for this year.
