Hundreds of residents across the district joined East Northamptonshire Council (ENC) in supporting the country’s largest litter pick last month collecting more than 700 bags of rubbish.
ENC supported Keep Britain Tidy’s Great British Spring Clean campaign, which took place from 22 March – 23 April, by loaning litter picking equipment to 25 community groups and collecting 50 tonnes of rubbish that residents had cleared from our district. The national campaign was supported by 563,163 people across the country - making it the biggest yet.
Charlotte Tompkins, Waste Manager at East Northamptonshire Council, said:
“We’re so pleased to support the Great British Spring Clean and are overwhelmed with the response from residents. People of all ages across the district joined family, friends and neighbours to support the campaign, and we are thrilled that more than 700 bags worth of rubbish have been cleared from our district.
“We are keen to support community litter picks all year around and the waste team will be happy to assist with organising events at any time of the year, so please get in touch to tell us about your event and find out how we can help.”
