Food safety inspections
All food businesses in the District are visited on a regular basis - restaurants, cafes, supermarkets, corner shops, warehouses and manufacturers.
The frequency of visits depends on the nature of the business and the condition of the premises. The better the management of the business, the less frequently we go.
These inspections are carried out without an appointment so that officers can get a true picture of what happens on a day to day basis. Officers are out and about in the District during the day, in the evenings and at weekends.
A wide range of options are available to deal with any problems found. These range from just giving advice to prosecution.
Details of how the legislation is enforced can be found in the Environmental Services Enforcement Policies document. In addition you can view our latest Food Service Plan which details what we will be doing over the next year to ensure safe food is produced and sold in East Northamptonshire.
