Thrapston Community Plan

Shaping the future of Thrapston

East Northamptonshire Council is working in partnership with Thrapston Town Council and consultants Ancer Spa to draw together a vision for the future of Thrapston by creating a Thrapston Community Plan.

The Community Plan's role is to capture and develop community priorities, including those for housing and infrastructure improvements. It will show how the historic town centre can be revived to play a more significant role in the sympathetic growth and prosperity of Thrapston. It will be used to provide a framework for planning and improvement projects in the area and prioritise investment in to the town. Its role is not to prevent development or to determine how much development will take place. It will represent a vision for the town, with projects that can be implemented over the short, medium and long term.

The project is being overseen by a project steering group which comprises:

  • Cllr Valerie Carter – Chairman of Thrapston Town Council
  • Cllr Peter Baden – Town and District Councillor
  • Cllr David Read – Town and District Councillor
  • Cllr Michael Finch – District Councillor
  • Cllr Wendy Brackenbury – District Councillor

The new Plan has now been drawn up following a series of consultation activities in autumn 2012 which captured the views of individuals, community groups and businesses in the area. The consultation programme included the distribution of a questionnaire to various stakeholders and a collaborative workshop event held at Thrapston Plaza.

Further consultation happened over spring 2013 on the draft version of the Plan. Comments were taken on-board and the final version of the Plan has now been adopted by Thrapston Town Council.
