Bulky waste collection service
We offer a household bulky waste collection service for all households in the district on request. The service is charged for, and must be pre-arranged and paid for, before collection can be organised.
How much does it cost?
We will collect up to five items for £30.00.
Once we have received your request and payment, you will be contacted within one working day by our contractor, who will call you to arrange a date to come and collect your items. The items must be left outside, ready for collection by 6:30am on that designated date. Please be aware that once your order has been placed you cannot add any further items to your list.
What can be collected?
As a general rule these collections are only for items that you would take with you when you move house such as:
- Bed (headboard, mattress and base count as three items)
- Chest of drawers
- Computer monitor / TV
- Dining room chairs (four count as one item)
- Fridge / freezer
- Vacuum cleaner
- Washing machine
- Piano (only if dismantled)
- Carpet (manageable rolls no more than three and a half feet long)
- Garden chairs
- Garden table
Items excluded from the bulky household waste collection service
We are unable to collect DIY / demolition waste or fixtures and fittings under this service for example:
- Bathroom suites
- Kitchen units
- Window units / glass
- Rubble / soil
- Garden fencing / posts
Household Waste Recycling Centres
Bulky household items may also be taken to the Household Waste Recycling Centres (often known as the Tip or Dump).
We cannot take asbestos on our household bulky waste collections. The Council offer a permit scheme for taking limited amounts of this potentially harmful material to the Brackmills waste transfer station in Northampton.
For larger amounts of asbestos, or if you do not want to handle this material yourself, please look in your local directory or on the internet for specialist companies that are equipped to deal with this material.
Asbestos in the workplace
If you believe you have asbestos in your workplace we recommend that you seek advice either from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) website or contact them on 0845 345 0055.
