Elections 2021

Town and parish council elections

Town and parish councils will be taking place across North Northamptonshire on Thursday 6 May 2021, alongside elections being held for the new North Northamptonshire unitary council and for the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Northamptonshire.

There are 94 parishes in Northamptonshire, and these will see the historic inaugural elections for new town councils in Corby, Kettering, and Wellingborough.

You can view all of the parishes in the Corby, East Northamptonshire, Kettering and Wellingborough areas using the links below:

You can also find contact details for the relevant parish clerks at the above links.

Becoming a town or parish councillor

If you’re interested in standing as a candidate for any of these parishes then you’ll need to complete and return a set of nomination forms to the satellite office that’s relevant to the parish council you’re choosing to stand in.

You can view a "how to" video with information around completing your nomination form here:

There’s also some really useful information about being a parish councillor on the National Association of Local Councils’ website

How to vote at these elections

You can view information about how to register to vote, or how to register for a postal or proxy vote. You can vote in person, by post or by proxy. Elections staff across the county are working hard to ensure that any residents can cast their votes safely during the ongoing pandemic, with a range of COVID19-secure measures being planned to support electors, candidates and casual staff.

Information about where to cast your vote will be included on your poll card, which will be dispatched to all registered electors on 25 March 2021.

If you’re not already registered to vote, then the deadline to do so is Monday 19 April 2021. If you’re already registered, then you don’t need to register again for these elections.

If you’d prefer to vote by post at these elections, then you’ll need to complete and return a postal vote application by 5pm on Tuesday 20 April. If you want to appoint somebody to vote on your behalf (a proxy vote) then you’ll need to do so before 5pm on Tuesday 27 April.
