In the 2018 Autumn Budget, the Chancellor announced that eligible retailers would receive a business rates discount off their net business rates bill for two years from April 2019.
Relief will be provided to the relevant occupied retail properties with a rateable value of less than £51,000 in 2019/20 and 2020/21.
To qualify for the relief the property occupied should be wholly or mainly used as a shop (for the provision of goods or services), restaurant or drinking establishment.
Awards such as Retail Relief are required to comply with the EU law on State Aid. As small amounts of aid are unlikely to distort competition, the industrial de minimis regulation allows small amounts of aid to businesses, which is less than €200,000 over 3 consecutive fiscal years. If you have received any other relief which is treated as de minimis State Aid you will need to provide details of this on the form.
