East Northamptonshire Sport & Physical Activity Awards

Nominating criteria

Community Club/Group of the Year

For clubs or community organisations / groups that have used sport / physical activity that have made a significant impact / achievement over the past 12 months.

For clubs this could be by achieving Club Accreditation, creating inclusive environments and increasing participation by a wider diverse audience and making a significant contribution to the community. For Community groups could have delivered a successful project that has increased participation / volunteering or a group who has developed opportunities to engage the least active and support local communities.

Achievements could be measured using the number of people involved or the impact on the skills and capacity within a community or a development of place through facilities.

Criteria

  • Clubs must be club marked and either has a home venue, pitch, clubhouse, facility or regular use of a facility within East Northamptonshire. 
  • Organisations / groups work / activities must be within East Northamptonshire and / or for the residents of East Northamptonshire.

Community Coach / Activator of the year

For individuals who have made a significant impact in their local community through their role as a coach, activator, leader or motivator over the past 12 months. This award will seek to recognise those that continue to help change the behaviour of others (specifically the least active and those from under-represented groups) and the impact they have made in helping those people become and remain physically active, especially in those who have previously been deemed to be ‘inactive’ participants in the community. This is open to paid and volunteer individuals engaging in local communities.

Criteria

  • Nominees should be delivering activity within East Northamptonshire

Community Champion / Volunteer of the Year

For individuals who have made a significant contribution to a community, organisation, club or project to develop or provide opportunities for people to be active. This can be as a volunteer in a local club, an event coordinator at a local park run or the person who keeps a community group running by providing essential back office support.

Criteria

  • Nominees must be engaged with communities in East Northamptonshire
  • Individuals will be assessed on their impact in the last 12 months (Sept 18 – August 19)

Primary Sport School of the year

This award recognises a Primary school that has made a significant impact with its delivery and commitment to PE and School Sport, has used programmes such as the School Games and Change 4 Life to embed PE & sport within the school’s ethos and has enabled students to access community based opportunities.

Criteria

  • School must hold the most recent School Games Mark award

Secondary Sport School of the year

This award recognises a Secondary school that has made a significant impact with its delivery and commitment to PE and School Sport.  The school must demonstrate it has provided a broad and quality PE curriculum for all students, have strong cross curricular links, have used programme such as the School Games, Change 4 Life and Young leadership to embed PE & Sport across the school, have taken a lead within an area / Partnership and have enabled students to access community based opportunities.

Criteria

  • School must hold the most recent School Games Mark award

Beat the Street Champion, sponsored by Beat the Street (Intelligent Health)

This award recognises an individual who has significantly engaged with the Beat the Street game. Maybe this person significantly improved their health and wellbeing by becoming more physically active through playing or did this person engage a group of people to play the game and as a result got more people active.  We’re looking for people who went above and beyond during the 6 week game and inspired themselves or the people around them.

Criteria

  • Actively played the Beat the Street game

Disabled Sports Person

For individuals who have had success at an elite level in the past 12 months – this can be county, regional, national or international success or representation. People who have also shown great sporting advocacy and leadership qualities (i.e. as a captain) can also be a contributing factor. 

Criteria

  • Nominees must live, represent a club or are based within East Northamptonshire

Local Sportsperson

For individuals who have had success at an elite level in the past 12 months – this can be county, regional, national or international success or representation.

Criteria

  • Nominees must live, represent a club or go to school within East Northamptonshire or have represented East Northamptonshire at county level or above.
