Rural Housing in East Northamptonshire

The Council has a statutory duty to investigate housing needs and work with partners to ensure that unmet needs are provided for. To do this work in rural areas the Housing Strategy team engage a rural housing specialist. The best way of establishing need is to conduct a survey so that every household in the Parish is given the opportunity to comment. The results of the survey together with other information, such as the type of properties currently in the village, numbers on the housing register, Ward and District data are used to help us understand the number and type of properties  that each area needs.

A five year rolling housing needs survey programme has been established for East Northamptonshire. For villages which have already been surveyed and to view results see map.

Where there is an identified need for affordable housing a framework has been established which details the roles of the various parties to bring forward developments to satisfy this need.
