The Garden Waste Service offers a convenient and cost effective way to recycle your garden waste, which we do not collect with the household refuse. For an annual fee you can get a 240 litre garden waste bin - this is the same size as the standard, green lidded, recycling bin.
On your scheduled fortnightly garden waste collection day (usually the same as your recycling), leave your bin at your usual wheeled bin collection point for emptying.
When does the scheme operate?
The scheme operates all year apart from a fortnight around the Christmas and New Year holiday period.
How much does it cost?
A year's membership costs £55.00 The cost covers the provision of the wheeled bin and the 25 fortnightly collections (cost reviewed annually). Membership is on a rolling calendar year basis e.g. if you join in April 2018 you will need to renew your membership by 1 May 2019.
Once payment has been received we will send you a confirmation of registration and a collection schedule. Your garden waste bin will be delivered within 10 working days.
Please follow this link for the terms and conditions of the Garden Waste Scheme.
The garden waste will then be taken to a local composting facility. To join the Garden Waste Service click on the green ‘Sign Up’ button on the right of this page (existing members can also use this for renewals).

Garden waste sacks
For £16.00 (cost reviewed annually) occasional gardeners can buy ten 75 litre compostable garden waste sacks to collect and store your garden waste in. Use these as and when you choose.
Once you have filled a minimum of 3 sacks, simply phone 01832 742222 to book the collection. This is usually the same as your recycling collection day; you will advised when you call. We will ask you to present your sacks at the usual collection point for your wheeled bin from 7am and that your sacks do not overflow and exceed 10Kg.
In partnership with the other Northamptonshire Councils and Straight Recycling we offer home composters. Please see the get composting website for more details.
*Please note that a private company, Biffa, also locally operate a kerbside collection of garden waste - the Green Waste Club. This is a separate scheme to the council's Garden Waste Service. If you are a member of Biffa's Green Waste Club you need to contact Biffa for any enquiries or to renew your membership.
