Supplementary Planning Documents

The 2004 Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act made provision for the preparation of Supplementary Planning Documents (SPDs) to provide greater detail on policies in development plan documents (DPDs), which would also form part of the statutory LDF. The 2004 Regulations and obligations surrounding SPDs were however, found to be generally over bureaucratic and onerous, so revisions to the legislation and regulations during 2008 removed many of the administrative barriers which had previously discouraged Councils from preparing SPDs.

Domestic Waste Storage and Collection Supplementary Planning Document

Between 30 March and 11 May 2012, the Domestic Waste Storage and Collection Supplementary Planning Document – Consultation Draft (also known as the “Domestic Waste SPD” is open for public consultation.  Further details are available through the following link:

Following the consultation, we will consider any responses.  Any proposed changes to the consultation draft SPD will then be put before Planning Policy Committee for consideration, with adoption of the SPD expected in July.
