East Northamptonshire Council

Date set for Thrapston supermarket planning applications to be considered

Published on Wednesday 6th June 2012

Both applications to be discussed Wed, 4 July

East Northamptonshire Council will consider both Thrapston supermarket applications at the same Development Control Committee meeting on Wednesday 4 July from 6.30pm ending at 9.30pm. If necessary, the meeting will continue at 2pm the following day Thursday 5 July.

These arrangements will allow the Development Control Committee to give the extended time and full consideration that these major applications warrant. Agendas and reports will be available 2 weeks before the date of the 4 July meeting.

The applications include both the Sainsbury applications (EN/01234/FULL, EN/11/01236/CAC, EN/11/01237/LBC) and the application for a supermarket at the Scotts, Bridge Street site (EN/11/01660/FULL).

Full details of both applications are available on PublicAccess or at the council’s Thrapston office.

The meeting will be held at the council chamber in Thrapston which seats 50. A further 90 people can be accommodated in nearby rooms which have audio and visual links to the chamber. We are unable to accommodate anymore than these numbers due to health and safety reasons. We have explored alternative venues but there is no suitable alternative in the town. Seats will be allocated on a first come first served basis and doors open at 6pm on Wednesday and 1.30pm on Thursday.

In line with the council's published procedures, up to 3 members of the public will be allowed to speak on each application. One person is allowed to speak on behalf of the parish or town council; one on behalf of objectors and either the applicant or their representative.

If several people want to speak for or against the same matter they will be asked to choose a spokesperson to represent them. Otherwise requests will be dealt with on a "first to ask, first served" basis.
