Gambling Act 2005

Northants Licensing Partnership Banner

The Gambling Act 2005 received Royal Assent on 7th April 2005. The Gambling Commission began to accept application from January 2007, and Local Authorities began to accept applications on 21st May. The Transitional Period ended on 31st July, and the Act was fully implemented on 1st September 2007. Old legislation was unable to keep pace with developments in modern technology, such as on-line casinos, and it was felt that a single piece of legislation was required to cover all gambling.

On this page you will find general information on the Act, and more specific information relating to aspects of the application and consultation process. However, should you require further information, please do not hesitate to contact the Central Administration Unit for Northamptonshire Licensing Partnership, details for which are given at the bottom of this page. Staff are available during normal business hours to offer advice and information on your licensing application.
