Three Towns Plan

View pages in this section

The Three Towns Plan (TTP) will set out the vision and detailed policies for the development, regeneration and planned growth of Rushden, Higham Ferrers and Irthlingborough. It will also set out the policy approach in the parishes of Chelveston cum Caldecott and Newton Bromswold.

The TTP will include the identification of sites for housing, employment, recreation and other land uses and will contain policies relating to specific areas where individual development, conservation or design criteria apply.

The TTP has completed the Preferred Options stage, the Preferred Options having been submitted in September 2006. This was accompanied by a Sustainability Appraisal.

A Sustainability Appraisal is a review of the economic, environmental and social effects of a plan from the outset of the preparation process to allow decisions to be made that accord with sustainable development.

After the publication of these documents a statutory 6 week consultation in accordance with the Statement of Customer Involvement was undertaken where interested parties and members of the public could comment on, or make 'representations' regarding the two documents.

The Preferred Options and Sustainability Appraisal can be viewed online, as can the feedback from workshop events, and the summary of consultation period:

The next stage of the TTP is to further the work with the view of submitting the DPD, allowing for further public involvement, before under going a public examination to assess the 'soundness' of the plan. Once this process has been undertaken, the plan may be adopted.
