Recycling centres
East Northamptonshire Council has two recycling centres in the district at Newton Road, Rushden and Herne Park, East Road, Oundle.
What can I take to the recycling centres?
The following materials are accepted at the centres:
- Glass - Bottles and jars (blue glass can go in with the green)
- Cans - Food, drink, pet food and (empty) aerosol cans
- Paper - Newspapers, magazines, junk mail, telephone directories
- Textiles - Clothing, shoes, bedding, handbags
- Plastic Bottles - Milk, mineral water, soft drink, detergent and shampoo bottles etc but no other plastic items please
- Scrap metals - Domestic scrap metal (e.g. fridges, cookers, bicycles)
- Oil - Used engine and cooking oils
- Batteries - Car batteries and household batteries
- Garden Waste - Compostable garden waste such as clippings, prunings, dead plants/flowers, weeds any woody material (less than 75mm/3 inches thick)
- Card/cardboard - Boxes, greetings cards
- Electrical equipment - Toasters, televisions, kettles, vacuum cleaners, etc
- Fluorescent tubes and low energy light bulbs
The sites cannot accept non recyclable waste or any other materials that are not listed above.
Opening times
These recycling centres are open from 8am to 6pm weekdays and 9am to 4pm on weekends and bank holidays. The recycling centres are closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day.
