What is the annual canvass?

The annual canvass takes place every year between August and November. This enables us to keep the voter's list (electoral register) as accurate as possible and publish a revised register on 1 December. A registration form is delivered to every property in East Northamptonshire in August which shows the names and details of everyone in your household who is eligible to vote.
The Register of Electors is often used to confirm an individual's address, especially if they are applying for credit such as a mortgage, personal loan or even a mobile telephone. If you are not registered you will probably be refused credit as well as losing your right to have your say via the ballot box.
