Circular walk and cream teas at Aldwincle

Nestled in a curve of the River Nene are the delightful villages of Aldwincle and Wadenhoe. Enjoy a leisurely stroll around the banks of the river and discover ancient churches, an 18th century dovecote and the birthplace of John Dryden, Poet Laureate to King Charles II.

Discover a haven for wildlife with a visit to Aldwincle Pocket Park, home to a variety of trees, scrub and wildlife such as bluebells, red admiral butterflies and green woodpeckers. An ideal venue for watching birds such as the goosander and kingfishers, the Titchmarsh Local Nature Reserve is home to many plants, butterflies and dragonflies.

If walking makes for thirsty work, take a well deserved break and treat yourself with a visit to Pear Tree Farm (Aldwincle) or the King’s Head in Wadenhoe, where the welcome will be as warm and friendly as you could wish.
