Welcome to Planning Services homepage. From here you can find out about all of the aspects of Planning Services. The departments within Planning Services work closely with each other as well as offering independent services.
Planning Services is made up of:
The Development Control team deals with applications for planning permission and other types of consent that may be needed before works or activities are started.
Building Control ensure that building standards meet the requirements to protect the health and safety of people in and around the buildings as well as other functions in accordance with Building Regulations.
Planning Policy's key function is the preparation of statutory Development Plan documents, providing policy advice to Development Control and other parties as well as research and monitoring. Conservation and design is responsible for the protection of the district's historic built and natural environment as well ensuring high quality design and landscaping.
The Housing Strategy team delivers a range of services including the enabling and development of new affordable housing. The Housing Option Service, which includes homelessness, housing advice and the Housing Register is provided by Nene Valley Homechoice. To find out more, call 0845 6032227.
Economic Development seeks to develop and regenerate the economy and community; its main objectives being to create employment opportunities and secure external funding for the benefit of the area.
The Land Charges and Planning Admin team provides back office support to all of planning services. It is also responsible for maintaining the Land Charges Register, carrying out Local Land Charges/Personal Searches as well as providing copy planning documents and information to the public.
