Local Development Scheme
The current development planning system was introduced in September 2004, by the 2004 Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act. This legislation required the District Council to produce a project plan/ timetable for the preparation of Development Plan Documents (DPDs) under the new planning system. It is required that this project plan/ timetable (known as a Local Development Scheme/ LDS) be reviewed annually.
The Council's first LDS was submitted to the government (through its East Midlands regional office) in March 2005. A revised LDS was submitted in June 2007. This has now been further reviewed and updated; the current LDS was approved by the Government Office for the East Midlands (GOEM) on 30 September 2009
